Questionnaire Analysis
The results from my questionnaire I found all worked together well with maybe the exception of 1 result. The categories which came out on top in each question are as follows:
Q1/ monthly with 45%
Q2/£2.00 with 50%
Q3/Rock with 37%
Q4/18-24 with 50%
Q5/front cover ( what would draw you most to a magazine?) 50%
Q6/Uncut with 37%
The result for question 1 came out with the majority of people wanting and preferring a monthly magazine. This was my preferable option as it allows a more significant feel about the magazine and its content. With monthly magazines, exclusives are enhanced by its monthly release because the irregularity of the magazines coming makes the customer take more notice that the previous magazine which had probably sat there for a months time has changed and bought more new and enticing content to the table. The result of which followed was daily with 33%. The problem I had with a daily magazine is the regularity and desperate need for new contents every day of the week, it just provides less significance and more hardship than a monthly magazine. For my magazine I'm going to stick to the result of which has been produced through this questionnaire and make it a monthly release.
The result for question 2 came out with the majority preferring £2.00. Mulling over this question, I came to the conclusion that people were obviously going to choose £2.00 as it's the cheapest but thinking in terms of reality, With my magazine being a monthly magazine, there's going to be a months worth of musical information contained within, so a higher price such as £4.00 will seem more realistic because it contains a months worth of info and is a more related price than £2.00, so here i personally disagree with what the majority favoured and have chosen £4.00 instead.
The result for question 3 came out with the majority preferring rock with 37%. This is a positive result as it's my favoured style of music and will fit well with the articles I'm already planning. What came second was Indie with 25%. I considered doing an Indie style magazine but decided not to because there are already too many out there with the NME ruling the music magazine scene these days.
The results for question 4 came out with the majority thinking more 18-24 was most suited for there music genre. This very much reflects the audience I interviewed with many of them being 20 and below, so in some ways i could have kept my questionnaire unbiased. I do actually want my magazine to be for this age range as I think there are not many monthly magazine for an audience of this young age and I think I could make this effective.
The results for question 5 came out with the majority finding that the front cover entices them the most when browsing over magazines. What this helps with is the selling value. Of course I'm going to put as much effort into the content as I am with the front cover but it just helps specify what people want to see when looking for a music magazine and that's a distinctive character of which my front cover needs to contain to look real and good.
The results for question 6 came out with the majority preferring Uncut to magazines like kerrang and Q. This surprised me as uncut is for an older audience and the people I interviewed weren't of an old age, but I guess that what people prefer and the people being interviewed were just unconventional.
Overall the questionnaire has helped me in sorting out the style of my magazine and I have thoughts and ideas of what people are going to be looking for in my magazine.

remake and remodel: software used
During this task i used Microsoft publisher to create my cover because it gave me options in terms of choosing background colours and laying out my contents in the style of a magazine. After having finished my cover, i print screened it and pasted to paint. i then cut the sides out and necessary parts of which I did not want on my blog. Having posted it onto my blog, I realised it didn't look as good as it could, so i edited it and put it onto paint.net rather than paint. I then used the cropping software and saved it as a J.PEG. Once posted it looked better and more professional than before.

two week task evaluation AND software use
EVALUATION
As I analised these magazine features, i've picked up on things that are very common and consistent within these magazines. Colours and fonts are kept commonly the same to create a sense of cohesion and structure. All four magazines I analised are quite similiar in that they were all quite sophisticated. The vocabulary used was very formal throughout, contrasting against magazines that i didn't analise like the NME. Overall, the task was successful in teaching me the conventions used with in every day magazines and will definately help in my own magazine creation.
SOFTWARE
in this task i used microsoft word and paint of which was necessary in getting my posts onto the blog. Microsoft word was useful in organising my work and adding text and formatting text boxes and pictures. This was the main program of whi i used. I scanned my magazine content into the computer and uploaded them to microsft word. With microsoft word i cropped the pictures and added text. For the four front covers i analised using arrows which can be found in the word toolbox. I did the contents and double page spreads differenty because they didn't have so much pugs and coverlines to underline. I would then take a screen shot using the "print screen" button. I then pasted this to paint and and cropped it and saved as a JP, so it could be converted to a blogspot compaitable document. Overall the software i used consisted of: paint, microsoft word and their many features.

These are my front cover designs i've done for my preliminary task on the educational magazine. I've kept to the white and blue colours used in the contents page to create composure and cohesion. The main picture is centered making it clear it's a a young persons educational magazine. I've used the bottom article to add more information and have added a pug to make it more magazine like. My puffs of information are alligned on the left because it's more conventional and i wanted to stick to the conventional look of a magazine. The title I made up is catchy and I think would hook browsers.A blue font has been used, accompanied by a size 16 which helps establish information and make it more clear.

for this cover I kept to the black and white theme with the purple eye reflecting its colour onto the font. I tried to keep that quirky feel to it by having very similar sized text boxes and with the colours black and white. The bottom article has a picture in just to add a bit of colour to the cover but it's mostly there to emphasize what that article is about. I used a few imperatives and personal pro-nouns like you to make it personal between the reader and the magazine. There is some alliteration in there as well to make it more presentable as a magazine.
for this magazine cover i've kep to the red of the mast head and have used white because of the paleness of the mans face, i though they went quite well together so I used it. I've kept to the Gothic theme because it relates to the main picture of Goth Marilyn Manson. Date and price is at the top in small font,so it's out the way but still viewable because it's important info. My main puff of information is in a larger font as it's the main piece of info and must be noticed. Bottom line article is put in there with a competition to make it seem more real. the pug type thing in the top right corner is there to add more information and to i've made it so that it's looks like it's been torn adding to the rough, Gothic, almost moody feel

For this cover i've kept it simple so it adds to the eerie and scary theme of the cover. With the lack of pugs and puffs there is more focus round the main picture making it stand out and more eye catching. I also kept a theme of blood and gore using words such as 'splattered' and 'gore'. this creates cohesion with the image and text balancing the cover out. There is some alliteration, in one puff it reads 'gleefully about gore'. This helps people to memorize and link it to the cover and image with all the blood. The white font links it with the white image of the girls face on the front again creating cohesion. The pug is also in red linking it to the blood on the girls face. I tried to get the font as close as possible to the title font but ended up using one that would link to the scary context of the magazine cover.
For this front cover I kept a colour scheme consistent through out the making of this piece. Font and colour are kept the same in most parts to help with the covers cohesion and structure.I implemented a few superlatives into my piece such as "amazing" to make the cover more persuasive and inviting. I also used imperatives to subtly command the reader to pick up and read helping the magazines selling point. The persuasive techniques and font and colour are important in the selling factor of the magazine, they create a connection between the customer and the magazine itself . The puffs and pugs are kept clear of the picture to make the main article of the magazine stand out and my puffs are aligned to the left as the right is commonly not used in the making of most magazines.

Questionnaire1/do you like to read? Yes/no
2/how often do you read a day? 1 hour/ 3 hours/ 5hours per day
3/what format of reading do you like the most? Magazine/newspaper/ book/ other
4/have you ever read an educational newspaper or magazine?
5/did the magazine appeal to you? Yes/no
6/ what content would you like to see in an educational magazine?
7/ what appeals to you in school or college?
8/what would you like to see on the cover?
9/would you like the magazine to be formal or informal
With the results from this questionnaire I was able to take into account what the majority would like or consider on the front page and contents page of an educational magazine and having required the results I implemented them into my contents making it roughly more accurate in indulging the audience aimed at.

IPC Media is a brand which produces many of today's best known magazines, such as the NME. It's broad range of magazines means there's a magazine for everyone. The IPC website will be used by me so that I can analyse what the magazines do successfully to help make them sell so well. I will take many ideas off there website and for my proper task, making a music magazine, I'll be using the NME magazine as a inspirational piece.
